CO2 Flooding Systems 

Co2 at atmospheric pressure is a colorless, odorless and electrically Non Conductive inert gas, It has high expansion ratio which facilities rapid discharge and allows three dimensional quick penetration in the entire hazard area. Made from premium quality components, this system’s importance lies in the fact that it has high efficiency to extinguish fire by reducing the oxygen content of the protected area below the point where it can support combustion. It provides a blanket of heavy gas that reduces the oxygen content of the atmosphere to a point where combustion is not sustainable. It provides its own pressure for discharging through Valves, Pipework and Nozzles.

 

PROCESS :

The CO2 gas has proven to be a fast acting fire extinguishing agent and is effective on deep seated fires in cargo holds. The system consists of a high pressure cylinder bank with either manual or pressure operated cylinder top valves.
The cylinder bank and a unique manifold are stored in their own insulated room. Valves are connected to the manifold using flexible high pressure hoses. The EVERSAFE Co2 fire extinguishing system can be controlled and activated by manual mechanism or by automatic fire detection systems. The systems piping design is based on computer aided hydraulic calculation which will give the pressure loss in line, correct pipe size, complete discharge time and discharge nozzle orifice size selection. It has been designed to provide fire suppression by maintaining low oxygen levels, and generally discharge in one minute. Co2 can extinguish fire either by gas, fog or snow according to the requirement through nozzle selection.

 

APPLICATIONS :

Modern, more efficient equipment make use of carbon dioxide to displace intracardiac gases a safe procedure. The carbon dioxide field-flooding technique is safer, easier, and more efficacious than tradition. Used for machinery spaces, pump rooms and cargo holds, the Unitor CO2 by suppressing the oxygen content in the space. From main distribution valves, a piping system is used to distribute the gas to the discharge nozzles which are placed uniformly throughout the protected spaces, fire extinguishing system is a total flooding system designed to comply with SOLAS Chapter II-2 and FSS Code Chapter 5, for use in engine rooms, pump rooms and cargo holds.
